ABSTRACT
The session presents the achievements in cybersecurity of the newly founded Affinity Group IEEE WIE in Bulgaria. The topics in the session are focused on an experimental setup for e-learning of hardware logical encryption and the implementation of machine learning for the security of a university campus. Different hardware logical encryptions XOR/NXOR-based, MUX-based and Encrypt flip-flop techniques are measured and compared for the probability of a wrong bit and the influence of the encryption location on it. Multiple gate hardware encryptions are studied for the probability for wrong bit per wrong key and the results for all wrong keys are compared. The experimental setup is based on VHDL original and encrypted circuit descriptions, implementation on FPGA and simulation of the setup in VIVADO software. For comparing different solutions the universal measures for hardware security are implemented. The study allows selecting the optimal type, placement and number of encryption logic for a hardware. The topic of machine learning for the security of a university campus is focused on university campus threats and the implementation of machine learning methods for increasing its security.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Galia Marinova graduated as engineer with Master degree in electronics in 1988 in the Faculty of Radioelectronics (later splitted in Faculty of electronics, Faculty of Telecommunications and Faculty of Computer science) in Technical University-Sofia. She received a Ph.D. degree in 1994. Since 2011 she's associate professor in the same faculty. G.Marinova did one year post-doctoral research in CNAM-Paris, France in 1999/2000.
She has 11 doctoral students – one received the Ph.d. title in 2014, one in 2018 and one in 2022, one is preparing his thesis defense and 7 are currently developing their theses.
Since 2019 G. Marinova is founder and member of the Working Group on Diversity and inclusion within TC 9.5. Technology, Culture and International Stability (TECIS) in IFAC. Within this WG, Galia Marinova authored 4 papers dedicated to the study of women in STEM in different regions like the Balkans, EU, Latin America and Asia. She studied the COVID 19 effect on women in education in STEM through a survey and realized a special study on women in STEM in Paraguay. She presented paper on the Special Sessions on Diversity and Inclusion at TECIS conferences in 2021 and 2022.
In October 2022, Galia Marinova created the IEEE WIE Affinity Group in Bulgaria and currently she is its chair. In March 2023, G. Marinova had an invited presentation in the framework of ETU+ Europen university in Technical University of Sofia
Prof. Dr. Vasil Guliashki graduated from the Faculty of Automatics at the Technical University of Sofia in 1988. His research interests are in the areas of optimization, decision-making, and machine-learning methods. He has 7 doctoral students, one of them graduated in 2022. Since 2022 he has been a full professor in the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. From 2021 he has been an IEEE member of WIE.
